Radon and Real Estate

When you're looking to sell a home, we are all interested in a smooth home inspection. No surprises. Redfin Real Estate has put together a great list of areas of your home for consideration.

Radon testing is on the list. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. We are seeing an increasing number of home inspectors including short-term radon tests as part of their inspection services. A "failed" test can introduce a potential bump on the road to closing the deal. It is certainly not an insurmountable problem, and we have helped clients address radon issues discovered during home inspections. But, it was probably more stressful than it had to be and at times meant working under very tight timelines.

Test your home for radon. If there's an issue, we can help you get it fixed before a home inspector flags it as a problem.

Even if you're not selling your home it's in all our interests to reduce cancer risk.
